Early Evening

hey, i'm sora! so i'm not sure which sleeping world this is, but i'm kind of looking for someone. there's no dream eaters here either, so it's a little weird to figure out where to go. plus, what's with these notebooks?

though, i guess other people would know, but i really have something important to do, so i'd like to get going!

plus, what is this place, i've never seen a world like this? what's going on?

[ For SOME reason, Sora is still writing questions, not particularly waiting for an answer. Some of them range from "how did I manage to get here? and "where's riku?" and then something about being really hungry. Feel free to stop him. ]

Day 14

I'm not sure what happened last night, but it seems like a lot of people aren't feeling good about it. And I've been kind of out of the loop with things lately, so I was trying to think of a way that might help cheer everyone up as well as maybe get together with people again.

It's getting colder, so it made me think of something. Back home, around the end of the year in the colder months (at least it's cold then in the part of the world I'm from), there's a holiday called Christmas. It's basically a time that everyone gets together with family and friends and exchanges presents with them.

Maybe we could do that here? Have it on the next Day, so people can get ready for it and the like. Everyone could come to the town for it, if the townsfolk don't mind. It could be like a festival.

Day 10

So I managed to catch this flying sharkdile thing. It came barrelling out of the Jungle Bedroom. I've got rope around its snout so it can't bite (hopefully) but now I don't know what to do with it. It's still asleep right now.

A Guide to Eorzean

[ Syhr'd been fortunate enough to Echo the information correctly enough to infer, she believes. So she's going to do this for others there. ]

Eorzea is my world. So I figured I'd give a quick guide so you lot can understand what's being said.

Ilm seems to translate to inch.
Fulm would be foot.
Yalm is yard.
Malm is mile.

We use bells, not hours.

Our year is about three hundred eight-four suns.
Suns are days.
Moons are months.
An epoch is a measurement of twelve years, as opposed to a decade.

We say nameday instead of birthday.

Onze instead of ounce.
Ponze instead of pound.
Tonze instead of ton.

I can answer any questions you have, if you have them.

after You Tried Rescue/closer to midnight

It occurs to me that with as many animals/etc as we have around here now, it might be worth people setting up some kind of system for care of their creatures if they're dead or missing.

Just. It's the sort of thing you should have a plan for.

[He is not writing this from the kitchen with Sync's puppy asleep in his lap. Absolutely not.]

Day 8

...okay, I give up.

Reader's digest version of what's happening, anyone? I'm trying to put things together going over what's in here, but ---
I don't know, I think I'm still fuzzy from whatever I just woke up from

Sam, Rei, Maurice - guys, any idea how long I was out?

[several minutes later, slowly processing there are at least a few new people and identification would likely be helpful]

early in the night

'Tricks' -

Dawn in the throne room, if they're done using it by then. You know why.

Only excuse for missing is if you're dead. Anything else is a forfeit.

(no subject)

Are those who received invitations last night well? I know the maids ushered a number of folk upstairs, and given what has been said of our 'gracious host', even that is concerning.

If anyone is missing, then the more we have looking the better our odds of learning something; and if anyone was hurt or drugged, I may have something in what meager supplies I've managed to gather to be of aid - or at least, a public notice on this may make it easier to locate a more skilled healer than myself.

(no subject)

Who tells someone to join them for a meal and sends a collar to wear?

[The writing is pressed down hard, and for those who knows their writing can see? This writer is ticked off.

Seriously.

Put that person in a bucket and send them out to sea.]

Day 006

[There are strange scribbles on the top of the page, as though the writer is testing out a writing instrument on the paper.

There seems to be a list of objects -- specifically the objects one would find in one of the trunks -- but a few lines stand out.]

Armor --> Full charge.
Buster --> Full charge.

[Following that is an outline of the room, almost too perfect to be made by human hands. The words "No Charger" can be seen in the corner.

Forgive him, X doesn't know the function of this thing yet. For all he knows, this notebook has just had multiple users, and he's the newest of many.]
bloodyashes: (The chibi has a map -)

AND THEN TEXT DUMP HAPPENED

[This handwriting is probably familiar to the network by now, after HORSE POST and his update at the beginning of the previous night. The lines are straight again, though, not looking like they'll potentially veer into each other.]

W - Meet me in the usual place in town, soon as you can, for that discussion I promised you.

K - Same as above, regarding your bout of illness last night.

Obnoxious Keterburg genius - Another of our number is here. The annoying, Fon Master shaped one.
[Whether this is addressed to Dist or Jade is intentionally ambiguous.]

To everyone I've spoken to about fonic artes instruction - I've put a list of terminology on the next page. Make my life easier, learn it before you come. Drop a note here so we can get everyone together, I hate repeating myself. L, you're welcome to come but you're ahead of the rest already.

Everyone else - Auldrant's New Year's should be somewhere around midday, if I'm judging my calendar correctly. If anyone wants to celebrate (I certainly intend to), then assuming no disaster strikes, I'll be in the town square around nightfall.

And sure enough, on the next page... )

Extended Night

[Well guys isn't this a thing. His handwriting is neat as ever, but there's a little bit more of a shake to it]

Haven't heard that sound in awhile. I'm surprised...

I guess the night is about to last longer. It's been awhile since the timing got mixed up, that I can remember, but it's not unusual. Be careful though? Things seem...different. Something strange is going on.

I'm sorry everyone in dorm 25, by the way. My wings are starting to moult. There's going to be feathers everywhere for awhile.

[A little while later]

Watch out for the door that looks like a mirror. The guy there might be trapped in it but he can still kill you.

[Anyone in or near Dorm 25 around midday may be witness to Lind stirring in the bed shared with Akito and Agito, before gasping and sitting upright with a jolt. She stares at nothing for a moment before swearing and slamming the back of her fist into the wall near her, staying still for a moment before shifting to sit on the edge of the bed, curling one leg up so she can rest her forehead on her knee.

A little while later she pulls herself together enough to be able to write in a slightly shakey but otherwise neat-ish handwriting]

Well that was fun. Dying here is the same as the last house, it seems. At least waking in a bed is nicer than the attic.

Whoever that was who talked with the twins earlier - thank-you.

(Early after dawn...)

[The flourishing handwriting that hasn't been seen in a few days will be familiar to some...]

And how is our circus settling in, now that you have all had a chance to see what your lives are now?

[Night 004]

The writing appears toward the end of the night. It's been a long one and a question has been buzzing around the dead man's skull. The handwriting is neat and almost bubbly--like a fourth grade girl wrote it. Don't judge.

How many times have you died?
I've died three times but I don't know if the first time really counted because they didn't do a very good job.

[ A rather tidy scrawl appears. But it's unsteady at the same time, unsure. ]

What's so important about a name? People seem to get upset if you don't have one. I do not, but I have no need for one. My purpose has been served, and I am a mere doll. A doll doesn't get a real name, just a role.

Why are names so important? Why? Why is it not okay that I don't have one? I'm a doll. I don't need one. I don' even exist.

I'm not important.

Am I?

[ The writing becomes less tidy as time goes on, until it's obvious that her hand was shaking. ]

[HORSE]

[There is no text in this message. All there are are some drawings of rather strange creatures. After some time, a drawing of a completely different creature is scribbled into one corner.

However, anyone in or passing near Dorm 25 will be able to hear a soft argument between Asch and Murtagh ([personal profile] oneformisery) along the lines of "That's not a horse, it's some kind of monster." "Of course it's a horse! Do you think I'm making this up?"]

[in a somewhat messy, yet readable, scrawl]

OK I'm just going to say it. Or write it. Whatever.

[because she's definitely thinking it and claire isn't exactly known for keeping opinions to herself. where's the fun in that?]

At the risk of jinxing the crap out of us, is anybody else thinking things are almost too calm tonight? I don't know about the rest of you but I don't like it and I definitely don't trust it.

(no subject)

The gate looks open. I was thinking we should check it out as a group. Scouting party. That kind of shit.

[She's going one way or the other really, but safety in numbers.]

Anyone interested?

[The question mark is large and emphasized, like someone's gone back over it a few times.]

(no subject)

[Claire isn't stupid. She knows these notebooks are being watched, every entry likely being watched. She also don't really care at the moment. She has a question and figures whoever is in charge - if anyone is in charge - already knows the answer so it can't hurt to put it out there.

She really hopes she's right about that as she begins to write.]

So, call me curious. Who has been here before and who is new?
