Day 14

I'm not sure what happened last night, but it seems like a lot of people aren't feeling good about it. And I've been kind of out of the loop with things lately, so I was trying to think of a way that might help cheer everyone up as well as maybe get together with people again.

It's getting colder, so it made me think of something. Back home, around the end of the year in the colder months (at least it's cold then in the part of the world I'm from), there's a holiday called Christmas. It's basically a time that everyone gets together with family and friends and exchanges presents with them.

Maybe we could do that here? Have it on the next Day, so people can get ready for it and the like. Everyone could come to the town for it, if the townsfolk don't mind. It could be like a festival.

Neat. Our new year's was mostly just staying up really late and watching fireworks.

That sounds like a great idea! I guess Santa Claus can't make it out here, but we can make due.

Santa would have to go a loooong way to get out here. I wouldn't want him to miss getting other people just because he had to come all the way out here.

I'll need to ask the townsfolk what they think, but if they don't mind probably the trickier things will be decorations. I know a lot of people make food, so that should be okay. I don't want to go too much with decorations though, but it might be nice if we can find something like lights...or if the townsfolk have an idea for a winter festival...

Christmas, huh. It would be nice to have fried chicken.

And Christmas cakes. I miss those. They were the main thing papa always made sure to get, even if we couldn't get anything else.

Christmas cakes...those would be nice. They do have some decent things in the bakery, however.

I'm sure you'll get a lot of people. You're not the only one who wants to have some fun and let their hair down. What can I do to assist?

[ Kaito looked up from his notebook and stopped tapping his pencil against the edge of it. By now he was well used to Walter preparing all sorts of meals with quick precision, so the chopping only got a glance. ]

Ask Spinel about stones to use for lights to hang. Maybe others can make them, too, but he's the one I know that can do it. He might also be able to simulate something like fireworks. [Walter remembers the coloured fonon energy. Maybe it might not have the noise that fireworks do, but the colour... the colour would be nice.]

For other decorations, we might be able to make bows out of different colours of fabric.

I know recipes for Christmas cakes and pudding. We might be missing one or two ingredients for some of them, but I think I can get them pretty close to what they should be like.

Does anyone else remember any carols or hymns? I don't expect everyone to be Christian or to sing the hymns, but I am curious.

Mine take a long time to make, but I know a few who can make things like that with less concentration.

I can definitely do fireworks, though they won't show up so well in the daylight, if we're doing this then.

I expect that depends on what people are comfortable with.

I think mostly lights and the like would be good for decorations. I don't want to go too overboard.

Christmas cakes and pudding would be so good if you could make them. I miss that sort of thing a lot, it would be nice to have them again.

That seems a good idea. I suspect there's already a winter festival of some kind, but 'twould be nice to celebrate the holiday with each other.
