The writing appears toward the end of the night. It's been a long one and a question has been buzzing around the dead man's skull. The handwriting is neat and almost bubbly--like a fourth grade girl wrote it. Don't judge.



How many times have you died?
I've died three times but I don't know if the first time really counted because they didn't do a very good job.

I like to think I've gotten better about not going near the creatures. But eventually the rules will change.

Better to take things as they come than worry about what might happen, though.

That's a good point. At least dying here fixes any problems we had before.

Once or twice, yeah. I don't know if it counts here though, but at the last house, it was bad if you died too many times. So probably a good idea to avoid dying too much.

How come the first time didn't count for you?

I wrote it to this other person but basically because instead of just waking back up I was different. Is that really a death? I don't know. I'm not a hair splitter.

Oh, I see...I dunno. It might not be in the normal sense, I guess. Maybe a 'death' in the sense of being a different kind of person?

I think I died since I woke up in the attic but it was more peaceful than what I was expecting.

Like I said they didn't do a good job I just climbed back out of the hole and was a vampire. Like some kinda messed up butterfly.
