However, anyone in or passing near Dorm 25 will be able to hear a soft argument between Asch and Murtagh (oneformisery) along the lines of "That's not a horse, it's some kind of monster." "Of course it's a horse! Do you think I'm making this up?"]

[There's no response for a while, during which Asch has an out-loud outburst of "Why the hell is Dist's writing in here?"

Eventually, the somewhat elegant handwriting Dist will recognize responds, with the thick lines that usually indicate that the writer is agitated.]

He's reading the responses and shaking his head over the pictures. So far, Thancred's drawing is closest to the horses he is familiar with (teeth aside) and he's in disbelief that the creature Asch has drawn could be called a horse.

"This, this is a horse," he insists, jabbing his finger at the page. Murtagh has no idea what that...thing is (the car) and has already heard of chocobos from someone else, but that quadruped is clearly the true horse here.

"Those don't even exist on Auldrant," Asch responds, shifting on the bed. It creaks slightly under his weight. "The uniceros is the closest thing - " He indicates the drawing of the winged creature with a finger of his own.

Hard to judge when I've only seen a short section of the winter season here.

Our horses are native to northern Rugnica, which has chill winters but hardly the coldest on the planet. I'm actually a native of the subtropics, though I lived the last few years in a temperate zone.

[It's not his first time seeing snow, but he didn't really grow up with it.]

[Finally back in his dorm room bed for a rest, Walter opened his notebook for a glance at things that had happened since his last foray into the world of writing.

He hadn't expected to be greeted by a lot of drawings. They sure seemed to be sparking quite the conversation, but were they really relevant? With a sigh, the butler took up his pencil, jotting down a brief message in his usual cursive handwriting.]

[Thancred's handwriting...is honestly a little idiosyncratic when translated to English; it's very neat but it's angled weird.]

Asch comes back to the dorm room in what's obviously not the best of moods, from the way he stalks in scowling and goes immediately over to his bed. He picks up the notebook from where it was left on the foot of the bed and drops it into the trunk, and kicks at his nameplate again for good measure before dropping into a seat on the bed.

He's been confronted by memories of Van far too much in the last few days. It's getting goddamn tiring. It would be easier if... "If I wasn't just as replacable to him as to everyone else," he mutters, turning to lean back on the bed and glare at the ceiling. It doesn't offer him any new insights.

Thancred's been back for a while, after his own narrow brush with stabbing; he knows poking Livia about it is poking a bear, and that getting her to accept that Gaius did something horrible to her is going to be a long, slow process not solved with a few times shaking her and throwing evidence at her but...

Well, even he only has so much patience for letting it go when it's right there in front of him and he might be able to do something.

He's on his bed, cleaning and tending to some of his own knives; the spread of throwing knives around him is impressive, and not usually visible.

He'd about guessed from earlier that apparently, the other one in the notebook was Asch.
