In my world and the short time I spent elsewhere in between a certain mass eviction and now, usually those that were of a rank to worry about assassins wouldn't exactly avoid such things - just have personal staff that they were well familiar with. Not that I can blame being cautious still.

That seems wasteful. How much use could you have for such a person?

You seem to have had rank and some station. Did you not have some staff dealing with whatever estate you had to do cleaning, upkeep, or aides?
