[HORSE]
[There is no text in this message. All there are are some drawings of rather strange creatures. After some time, a drawing of a completely different creature is scribbled into one corner.
However, anyone in or passing near Dorm 25 will be able to hear a soft argument between Asch and Murtagh (
oneformisery) along the lines of "That's not a horse, it's some kind of monster." "Of course it's a horse! Do you think I'm making this up?"]

[There's a handful of hasty, vaguely decent scribbles with notes appearing; the first are a set of drawings of what Murtagh and most would recognize as human, with one of the examples broader and heavier built, another with a 'third eye' that almost looks like some sort of stone set in the forehead - something that wouldn't be unfamiliar to Murtagh if he's ever seen Livia with her headbands and such off.]
These are Hyur - Midlanders [with an arrow to the first sketch] are the most widespread, but skin color can vary widely between families and regions; my own city of Ul'dah has a tendency for natives to be middling darker skinned compared to the northern regions. The Highlanders [and this has an arrow to the central sketch] mostly hail from upper hill country and mountain regions; the majority of them had been in a city-state that was conquered and isolated from all on the continent. The Garleans [which has an arrow to the one with a third eye] are from a different continent; the third eye is some sort of old adaptation of unknown origin, they tend to be very pale and claim descent from a long-dead ancient empire.
[He's leaving some blanks; there's a beginning of something else scribbled, the basic outlines of a couple of figures of very different sizes and shapes.]

I've never seen such a variety of people. If you were to call any of the Dwarves, Elves, or Urgals "human", you'd be met with hostility. What I gather from this is that the term "human" is a description rather than a racial denomination, correct?

[One of the basic outlines gets sorted into a small, rounded figure with pointed ears and eyes that seem to have no visible pupils, while another is a girl with long feline ears and a tail; arrows are drawn between them and the word "Lalafell" for the small one and "miqo'te" for the feline.] For example, Lalafell and Miqo'te are also "Human", along with a few other races, although it's impossible for there to be hybrid children with a Hyur (and Lalafell are not entirely physically compatible even).

[ The Miqo'te look like the descriptions of werecats he's read about. (Little does he know that's not how they actually look in his land.) ]
