Not to mention, it could be a regift.

Accept it and you are giving some permission for further attentions - attentions that can be turned into obligations and snares.

Not to mention how rife being too attentive can be to ways to gain leverage for control.

It seems like an opening gambit for control, a stranglehold even.

It's a collar. There might as well been a leash attached and a "let's go for a walk" note to go with it.
