I have noticed several of my fellow guests have been having trouble removing their collars. I must make it a point to tell them that it is very easy! All they must do is remove their heads.

I have been trying to get the lay of the land for months and the best way to do that is to look from the highest point.

[There's a pretty long delay before anything is written here, but eventually Nathan decides to bite the bullet and add his own comment. The writing is careful, neat, and as nondescript as possible: he doesn't want to out himself, but the information might be useful.

It's dangerous up there. But you can see off the island at least.

After responding to another entry, Walter had flipped through the mysterious gray notebook. There had been a poem of sorts, and cryptic responses below it. But this... this was different-- and frankly, slightly ludicrous. Even Walter was not so far gone in his horror-filled life that he would forget that beheading was a means of death for those that were truly alive. And even most who weren't.

Shaking his head, Walter poised the pencil to write a response, letters blossoming across the page in a neat, cursive hand.



Dear helpful soul,

The only person I've ever met that could even survive removing their heads is not here.



After a moment, a new line was added below, this time a little more boldly and with a slightly lesser degree of neatness.



On that note, if you should ever see him, let me know and I shall happily demonstrate that for you. I rather feel like taking off his head for the trouble he has caused me.

There were a lot of responses cropping up, Walter noted. Either the chap writing was quite the popular fellow, or the people here were highly amenable to this particular method of communication.

Perhaps they would be better at sharing information this time.



I said he isn't here. I haven't seen him in this place or heard anyone else say they saw him, and he's not the sort to stay unnoticed for long.

Yes! They are large and white and have two wings each. I encountered them months ago but I'm sure they're still around.
