Day 14

I'm not sure what happened last night, but it seems like a lot of people aren't feeling good about it. And I've been kind of out of the loop with things lately, so I was trying to think of a way that might help cheer everyone up as well as maybe get together with people again.

It's getting colder, so it made me think of something. Back home, around the end of the year in the colder months (at least it's cold then in the part of the world I'm from), there's a holiday called Christmas. It's basically a time that everyone gets together with family and friends and exchanges presents with them.

Maybe we could do that here? Have it on the next Day, so people can get ready for it and the like. Everyone could come to the town for it, if the townsfolk don't mind. It could be like a festival.

[Christmas cake, fried chicken, dates...that's what she thinks of Christmas.]

I can check the cheese store or the butcher? I'm not sure if she'll have it but we'll see.

[He doesn't... especially like the butcher, but he's avoided dealing with him for some weeks now.]

And Christmas cakes. I miss those. They were the main thing papa always made sure to get, even if we couldn't get anything else.

Thank-you! With enough people, I think we can make it almost as good as Christmas back home.

Christmas cakes...those would be nice. They do have some decent things in the bakery, however.

I'm sure you'll get a lot of people. You're not the only one who wants to have some fun and let their hair down. What can I do to assist?

I've noticed that, though I try not to spend too much of my money. Gotta keep everyone fed.

Anything you can think of to help would be good! I need to ask the townsfolk what they think of the idea, but after that decorating a little and maybe finding a gathering point for where all the food could go.

I think we can see about curbing our spending, even for the food. We can work around it.

Maybe the town square could be used? I don't know if we should think about bringing a tree for this. Do you think we should ask the monastery if they'd want to join us?

Yeah. It's just tricky when the money we have is for three people.

The square would be a good place, it's central and everyone can get to it. Not sure about a tree either, that'd probably need going outside the walls I think, and the fog is not fun.

We should ask them! Everyone deserves a happy day.

I can understand that. And that period without chores-that wasn't fun either.

We don't need a tree though. At least, I don't think so. Just some friends, food-that sort of thing.

That period was weird. It was like everything shut down.

Yeah, we don't really need one. Having everyone together is what's important.

If you know the people there, that would probably be better. I haven't really spoken to anyone from there, I don't think.

Like it was trying to weather a storm. It was weird.

But I agree, just having people around would be nice.

I do know at least one, so it will be a little easier for me to go. And maybe a couple of other people who might want to come. I don't know the townsfolk as well as I'd like.

Yup. I wonder if we could find lights or something though...that's the kind of thing you mainly see at Christmas, right? Lights in the trees and along the edges of house roofs. We couldn't get electrical stuff, but maybe there's a magic alternative..

Sounds good to me. I can come with you if you like, since it was my idea.

You're right, lights are familiar. Lights on the trees, the roofs...sometimes other places. I think we might be able to come up with an alternative, if we have some help.

I'd like that. I've missed your company, and that of your family.

That would be cool. Hopefully we can!

I haven't been around much, I know...I think we disappeared last night, I don't remember it at all and neither does Agito or Lind. But I want to fix that, I miss being a part of things.

We can ask around, and we'll see.

But it's all right. I was...busy last night, but it's best you weren't around. It was a night for trouble all around, I think.

This will be a good start in getting back into...everything? I think.
