Night 009
[ Sometime early in the night, during Kaito's downtime, a series of lines begins to draw themselves across the next empty spread of pages.
The lines aren't completely straight. His busted shoulder means that even with a ruler, he can't utilise both hands to make the schematic perfect. However, his hand is steady and he works with patience to make sure everything lines up the way it's meant to. He'd practised on other non-journal sheets beforehand.
Eventually the map below takes shape, annotated in blue and red. ]

[ In the corner, Kaito writes some notes about the watchtowers. ]
Watchtowers
There are four towers. The stairs lead to the tallest one.
They're lined up alone the side of the castle (you can see them from the Horticulturalist's room).
There's a guard room on the way up that has weapons, supplies etc.
Also a fox which can see through magic maybe.
(Disclaimer: All the above names are ones which Kaito has decided on. They are not necessarily the official names.)

[ The other journal gets nudged towards her and then he goes back to picking at his stew. ]
This one might have a stronger memory. Someone really wanted to make sure no-one else read what was in it...
no subject
No more then usual. I still need to pick up something for the headaches, but I've been through more then I tend to talk about.
[Really, she's fine. Though that last statement has her wonder.]
Because of the binding? It doesn't look as if anyone tried to burn it. I would have thought that's what they would have done, if they didn't want their information shared.
no subject
Well... Maybe they couldn't burn it.
[ He shoots her a meaningful glance. Weren't vampires susceptible to fire? ]
There wasn't anything in there you could use to start a fire. It was dark and cold and...ugh, creepy.
no subject
Possible.
[But she doesn't want to assume.]
It sounds like an odd place. With the dirt and the columns and the teeth...it's too bad I couldn't get up there.
...I could, but not freely.
no subject
[ His talent lies in schematics, not design. ]
And it's too bad I can't take anyone with me when I go up. It's a lot better seeing things with your own eyes.
no subject
[She sighed a bit.]
Plus I could have drawn a few things-not well. I'm not the artist.
[The mention of Don had her expression flicker briefly, a little sad. She still wondered where he and his daughter were.]
But it's not as if I can show you my visions either. We don't have enough...crossover? For it to work.
no subject
Yeah, I'm completely normal. [ He wriggled the fingers on his uninjured hand and stuck out his tongue. ] Couldn't even begin to relate.
[ Not that he feels he's missing out. Powers seem to attract attention. ]
no subject
That's not a bad thing. If me and another person with similar powers touch, there's cross over. There might be memories, emotions, that sort of thing.
[She makes a face.]
I also did some research when I was back home. If they were of my world, we'd be able to see the same vision. From what I understand, it's always related to unfortunate supernatural event.
At least you're not going to be embarrassed or easily compromised with visions.
no subject
[ Kaito eyes her. ] But it still seems like more trouble than it's worth. Like with the crossover you mentioned. I don't think real magic or supernatural powers makes anyone happy.
[ A certain witch certainly hadn't been. ]
no subject
[She shrugs.]
It saved my life before, and it may do that again. We've certainly uncovered a few things with this power. But-I'd rather do without the fear of touching people.
[Ruth...she had problems due to her power, as did others.]

Does wearing gloves help?
no subject
I haven't worn gloves, but it's not limited to my hands. It's just the most common.
Sometimes I just have to be in the same area for it to start, if it's strong enough.
no subject
So I just have to be careful not to show any strong emotions around you? Easy-peasy.
[ It would be good practice. ]
no subject
Pretty much, yes. I seem to do best with people who are detached from their emotions.
[Sort of kind of.]
no subject
Or you just need to find happier people to hang around.
[ Smiling brightly, he left off spooning stew for himself to produce a battered but somehow-still-whole rose. Where had he gotten it? Who knew. ]
no subject
[Rei isn't exactly a happy person either. Or at least, not a perky one. But she finds herself startled by the sudden sight of a rose. What the...]
How long have you had that?
no subject
That's a secret! [ His eyes drop to the flower and he registers its colour. Kaito hastily adds: ] The only reason it's red is 'cause I couldn't get other colours.
no subject
Oh don't worry, I understand.
I'm certain my partners don't understand either, or if they do ,they wouod find it charming.
no subject
[ Kaito isn't sure that stoic one would find being presented a rose charming but...okay. ]
no subject
[She seems amused, but then again...she's had some time to get used to both of them.]
no subject
He set the rose on the table rather than vanish it up his sleeve again. It deserved to have some air. ]
Just as long as they don't come after me out of jealousy. [ And then he went right back to eating, trying to feign nonchalance. ]
no subject
He might be a little smug.
She picked up the rose, letting her finger go over the petals gently.]
I'm sure they won't.
[They're not like that, she thinks. Hibari doesn't care for her like that, and Mukuro would be the first to claim it's only for fun. Or something like that.]
