I am rather fond of my city, for all that it has its troubles.

Accept it and you are giving some permission for further attentions - attentions that can be turned into obligations and snares.

Not to mention how rife being too attentive can be to ways to gain leverage for control.

There was actually less time spent wishing that certain means of resolution of conflict were viable accessible options in any kind of short order, and far more opportunity for more pleasant and enjoyable pursuits.
