Oh. Right. Not everyone understood how names worked in his country.

Going back to the names, he began drawing characters above the words: 'Enjou', 炎娘; 'honoo', 炎; 'musume', 娘; and then the other way to write the word 'enjou' - meaning a blaze-up - 炎上. He showed these to Luce.

Also, he added, Aoshi is another way to read my friend's name. It's written the same way but the second character has two readings. Normally it's 'Aoko'.

He followed that up with the characters for Aoshi's name: 青子

He nodded before saying. "Puns."

Except this was one with letters he had never seen.

Kaito gave him a thumbs up. Exactly! They were puns. Feel free to tell him how amazing they are, Luce. He will go back to feeding the Divers in the meantime.

"The puns I use are similar, except we use signs." If he had his hands free he would show the other one. "Like my name can be one."

Oh yeah? How? He stared at Luce curiously.

With his free hand he made a shape by his face. "This is my name." He then did another sign, that looked similar. "This means pale." Finally, one more. "Light."

I see! He tapped the pencil against his chin, thinking. Then he grinned. I could call you 'Raitan'.

Luce cocked his head to the side, "What?"

In English it's "lighten". In Japanese it could be 来淡, which would mean 'to become lighter'.

It's settled. That's his name for you now, Luce.

"You don't need to rename me, Sif gave me a good name." He still didn't quite get the entire renaming thing.

What name did they give you?

"Luce." Yup, that was his name after all. He never was much one for code names obviously.

Well I can't call you that out loud in case the Lord hears. I'll try and remember how to sign your name but I'm going to call you 'Raitan' otherwise. :P

And just like the little doodle of his face, he also stuck his tongue out at Luce then winked.

Luce nodded at that, this was weird. Soon the bird went back to Kaito so Luce's hands were free to write.

Then make sure everyone knows. I won't remember it.

I'll tell them don't worry.

He gave Luce a thumbs-up and held out his hand for Aoshi to flap back on to. Kaito settled him on his shoulder before writing again. I'd better get back to work. You should as well.

And with that Luce nodded and sauntered off. He got to pet a bird so he was happy.
